Golden Hour at the Villa Statue

Catch the last warm light on the monumental statue before settling in for dinner.

Best time: 18:55About 105 min

Timeline

  1. 18:40

    Pizzeria La Sierra

Grab a slice of pizza made with local Mennonite cheese. It is cheap, fast, and the texture is uniquely creamy.

  2. 19:05

    Ciudad Del Niño

Walk to the park grounds. The outdoor pool and playscapes are empty now, giving you space to stretch your legs before the main event.

  3. 19:25

Estatua Monumental del Gral. Francisco Villa

Head to the statue. The golden light hits the monument perfectly as the sun dips toward the WNW. Stand back to take in the full scale of the figure against the brightening sky.

  4. 19:50

    La Casa del Tequila

Walk to a traditional Mexican restaurant with a huge collection of tequila bottles on display. The portions are generous and the atmosphere is lively after dark.

Local tip

The park closes at 17:00, so you cannot enter the playground area after your walk from the pizza place. Stick to the public spaces around the perimeter or head straight to the statue area which is accessible from the street.

Check before you go

  • Quesadillas Las Tres Marias closes at 16:00, so it is not an option for this evening plan.
  • La Casa de Chiliquil is closed on Sundays and closes at 12:00 on other days.
  • La Gota de Miel closes at 20:00 on weekdays and 20:00 on weekends, so you might miss it if you are not quick after the statue.
