Timeline
10:00
Start with a traditional breakfast or early lunch at La Casa del Tequila. The portions are generous and the tequila collection is impressive, making it a perfect way to begin the day.
10:45
Walk to Mina la Prieta. Arriving right when it opens at 10:00 helps you beat the crowds. Take the elevator 100 meters below the surface to Level 2, then walk 250 meters into the hand-dug tunnel from 1820 to see the historic mining equipment and minerals.
12:15
Head to La Gota de Miel to buy some regional sweets. Parral is known for its candy-making tradition, and this shop specializes in leche quemada (caramel made of sweetened scorched milk). It is a lovely way to end the outing with a sweet treat.
Local tip
Mina la Prieta opens at 10:00, so arriving then ensures a quieter experience. La Gota de Miel closes at 20:00 on weekdays and 20:00 on weekends, so you have plenty of time to stop by after the mine.
