Timeline

  1. 16:30

    Le Panorama

Start at Le Panorama, the only rooftop restaurant in Pakse. Order a drink and take in the view over the town and the Mekong from the 7th floor of Pakse Hotel. The atmosphere is relaxed and the vista is worth the price.

  2. 17:00

    Wat Luang

Walk down from the hotel to Wat Luang. This is the biggest and most beautiful temple in Pakse and home to the Buddhist monk school. Find a quiet spot near the edge of the grounds to wait for the sun.

  3. 17:45

    Sunset viewpoint

Head to the Sunset viewpoint, just a short walk from the temple. The sun sets toward the WSW, casting a warm golden light over the temple spires and the surrounding landscape. This is the moment to watch the day end.

  4. 18:45

    La Panorama

End your evening at La Panorama. It is open late and offers sandwiches and a casual setting to digest your thoughts and the day’s sights.

Local tip

Le Panorama is not cheap, but the view makes up for it. La Panorama is open until 22:00, so you have plenty of time to linger after sunset.
