Timeline
08:30
Walk the trails at Cubitos Ecological Park as soon as it opens. The semi-desert ecosystem is best explored in the cooler morning hours before the sun gets high and the gravel paths heat up. Bring water and a hat.
09:45
Head down to Plaza Juárez for a late breakfast at Los Portales Pachuca. It is a clean, modern spot serving traditional Mexican dishes like hot cakes and molletes, perfect for refueling after the park walk.
10:25
Walk up to Cristo Rey. The large Jesus statue on the hilltop offers fine views of the city. Take time to walk around the terrace and stairwell to find the best vantage points while the morning light is clear.
Local tip
The park has very little shade, so starting early is key. Los Portales Pachuca is open from 09:00 on weekdays and 10:00 on weekends, so arriving at the park at 08:30 gives you time to explore before heading to breakfast.
