Timeline

  1. 08:40

    Holmenkollen

Take T-bane 1 towards Frognerseteren to reach Holmenkollen. Arrive at the ski jump area before the sun crests the horizon. The view looks southwest, aligning perfectly with the sunrise direction described in the facts. The area is quiet, allowing you to find a spot on the hillside or near the museum entrance to watch the light change.

  2. 09:10

    Holmenkollen Chapel

Walk five minutes from the jump to Holmenkollen Chapel. The dragestil wood carvings and stave church inspiration are best appreciated in the soft, early morning light. It is a peaceful spot to pause and take in the atmosphere before the crowds arrive.

  3. 09:35

    Norð cafe

Head to Norð cafe. By this time, the sun is well up and the golden light has shifted. The cafe is open from 07:30 on weekdays, making it a reliable stop for coffee and a warm drink after the cold morning air. Note that it closes at 16:00, so this is a morning-only visit.

Local tip

The T-bane runs early enough to get you to Holmenkollen before sunrise, but check the schedule as winter timetables can vary. The walk between the jump and the chapel is short and well-marked.
