Walk through Middelalderparken. The ruins of the medieval old town and church walls offer a quiet, atmospheric start. It is only a short 16-minute walk from the anchor museum.

Stop at Maaemo for a pre-sunset snack or drink. This Michelin-starred regional restaurant serves organic, local food. While the full nine-course menu is a long affair, you can enjoy the atmosphere or a quick bite before heading out. It is open from 18:00 on weekdays.
15:48
Return to Middelalderparken to watch the sunset. On 15 January, the sun sets at 15:48 toward the SW. The park’s open spaces provide a clear view of the sky darkening over the city.
16:13
End your evening with a stroll through the Botanical Garden. Located just south of the park, this relaxing area is free to enter and offers a peaceful close to the walk. Check opening hours for the season, as they vary between April and September.
Local tip
Middelalderparken is a hidden piece of history right in the city. The walk from the anchor is short and direct. If you want to extend the walk, the Botanical Garden is right next door, but remember that its opening hours change by season.
