Enter the zoo as it opens. Beat the crowds and see the Kingdoms of the Night and the Lied Jungle while the air is still cool.

Walk eight minutes to King Kong for lunch. Order the Triple-Kong burger. If you have a student ID, ask for a free drink.

Walk twenty minutes northeast to Kenefick Park. It is a quiet place at the southwest point of the river bend, named for a former Union Pacific chairman.
Local tip
The zoo is open from 09:00 to 17:00. Arriving at opening gives you the best light for the indoor exhibits and the quietest experience before the afternoon rush.
