    Handayama Botanical Garden

Find a spot near the edge of the grounds that faces west. The garden is filled with various flowers, and the evening light will highlight the textures of the plants as the sun begins to set.

  3. 18:35

    Handayama Botanical Garden

Watch the sunset. On 15 April the sun sets toward the WNW at 18:35, casting golden light across the garden for about 30 minutes prior. This is the main event of the evening.

  4. 19:05

    Hokai-in

Take a short 5-minute walk northeast to Hokai-in. This temple is one of the Chugoku 33 Kannon Temple Pilgrimage stops and offers a quiet, atmospheric end to the evening as darkness falls.

Local tip

The garden closes at 16:30. Arrive before then to explore fully, but stay after closing to watch the sunset from the grounds if permitted, or move quickly to the nearby temple which is open later.
