Grab a pint at Pumpjack. The pub opens at 13:00, giving you plenty of time to settle in before the afternoon light shifts.
16:42
Walk to the Gate to the Northwest Passage. Arrive an hour before sunset to explore the weathered Corten steel sculpture in the softening light without the rush.
17:42
Stand by the arch and watch the sun set toward the WSW. The golden light at 16:49 turns the rusted steel a deep orange against the evening sky.
18:27
Return to Pumpjack for a post-sunset drink. The pub stays open until 03:00, so you can linger in the warm interior after the cold air outside.
Local tip
The walk from the pub to the sculpture is short but the park can be chilly near the water in January. Bring a layer.
