Drive 87 km from Narrabri via Newell Highway southbound. Pass the Kamilaroi Highway turn-off on the left and continue ahead through the Pilliga Forest/Pilliga Scrub. The Sandstone Caves Walking Track car park is on the left hand side.

Sandstone Caves Walking Track - car park
Park and walk the 1.7 km loop track. This Grade 3 self-guided tour takes 60 to 90 minutes. Arrive at the viewing area just before the sun breaks the horizon.

Local tip
Guided tours are available but you must book through the Pilliga Forest Discovery Centre at Barandine. If you prefer to walk alone the self-guided option is open to all visitors.
