Best time: noneAbout 120 min

Timeline

  1. 08:00

Mount Coryah Walking Track - car park

Park at the Mount Coryah Walking Track car park and begin the 2 km loop. This Grade 4 track is very steep with many steps, so take your time and ensure you have the fitness required. The effort pays off with views of Eulah Rock and good birdwatching opportunities.

  2. 09:00

Bark Hut Campground and Picnic Area

Walk back to the Bark Hut Campground and Picnic Area. Use the free gas or electric barbecues or the wood barbecues (bring your own wood) for a cooked lunch. The picnic tables provide a flat, comfortable spot to rest after the steep climb.

  3. 09:45

    Doug Sky Lookout

Take the short 11-minute walk ESE to Doug Sky Lookout. This spot is wheel-chair accessible with assistance and offers scenic views over north-west New South Wales, the foothills of the Nandewar Ranges, and the Warrumbungle Mountains. Bring binoculars to spot distant details.

Local tip

The Mount Coryah track is physically demanding. If the steep steps are too much, Doug Sky Lookout is a more accessible alternative with similar wide views.
