Enter Hongshan Forest Zoo right at opening. The gates open at 07:30, which is when the park is quietest and the morning light is soft. Use Metro Line 1 to get to Hongshan Zoo Station.

Walk through the 168 acres of greenery. With an 85% green coverage rate, the shaded paths offer a cool respite as the sun climbs. Keep your ticket handy as it is required for entry.

Head toward the exit near Hongshan Zoo Station. The zoo closes at 18:00, but the best time for photography and peaceful wandering is the morning hours before the midday heat and crowds arrive.
Local tip
Tickets are not sold after 16:30, so plan your visit for the morning. Adults pay ¥40, while students and children over 1.4 metres pay ¥20. Children under 1.4 metres and adults over 60 enter for free.
