Timeline
15:58
Visit the Notojima Aquarium. The Dolphin Show and Sea Otter Feeding Show are popular, so arriving an hour before sunset gives you time to see the exhibits and catch a show without rushing.
16:43
Walk 18 minutes northwest to Nanao Port Marine Park. This is your spot for the sunset view. The park faces southeast, offering a clear view of the western horizon where the sun sets.
16:58
Watch the sunset. On January 15th, the sun sets at 16:58 toward the WSW. The golden light begins around 16:18, so you will have about 40 minutes of warm light before the final dip.
17:28
Stay for the afterglow. The light fades quickly, but the harbor atmosphere remains calm as the day ends.
Local tip
The aquarium closes at 17:00. Since sunset is at 16:58 in winter, make sure you leave the aquarium with enough time to reach the park for the final moments of daylight.
