Grab a coffee or light snack from a nearby shop and find a seat near the giant incense burner on the hillside. The park is open, so you have plenty of time to settle in and watch the light shift over Muscat.
17:07
Stand by the incense burner as the golden light hits the rugged mountains to the west. This is the peak moment for photography and soaking in the view before the sun dips below the horizon.
17:27
Walk down from the park to the Matrah Cornice. It is a short 10-minute walk west. The breeze picks up here as you leave the hill, and you can enjoy the quiet evening atmosphere along the waterfront.
Local tip
The view is best when the sun is low in the west. Bring a light jacket as it gets cooler near the water after sunset.
