Timeline
09:00
Enter the New Palace. The complex opens at 09:00 in April through September, so you will have the grand halls to yourself for the first hour. The New Palace was built between 1700 and 1726 for Elector Max Emanuel and is packed with artwork. Check the route if you are not taking the S-Bahn S1 to Oberschleißheim.
10:00
Find a spot for lunch or a snack nearby. Since there are no listed food or drink shops in the immediate context, check the route for options in Oberschleißheim or the surrounding area.
10:30
Walk to the Old Palace at the west end of the complex. This building was originally a mansion that was rebuilt into a palace in 1623, destroyed in World War II, and reconstructed from 1970. It now houses religious art and an exhibition on Prussia in Poland. The New Palace is just east of this spot, making it a short walk from your earlier visit.
Local tip
The complex is open Tue-Sun. In the October through March season, opening hours shift to 10:00, so adjust your start time accordingly. Admission is €10 for adults and cash only.
