Timeline
14:47
Grab a beer at Augustiner-Keller. This historic brewery has been running since 1328 and is just a short walk from the palace. It is open daily until 23:00, so it is ready for your early start.
15:17
Walk to Schloss Nymphenburg. The palace grounds are vast, but you want to find a spot that faces west. The palace itself is oriented such that the sun sets toward the WSW. Use the tram if you need to, but the walk from the beer garden is manageable.
16:47
Watch the sunset. At 16:47, the sun dips below the horizon toward the WSW. The Baroque architecture catches the last light beautifully. Stay for the transition into twilight.
17:32
End the night back at Augustiner-Keller. The atmosphere shifts as the light fades, and the beer garden remains lively. It is the perfect place to decompress after the walk.
Local tip
The palace grounds are extensive. Find a bench or open space facing west to catch the full effect of the sunset over the rooflines.
