Grab a drink at the Löwenbräukeller beer garden. The brewery has been on this site since 1826, and the Bräukeller across the street opened in 1883. It is a solid place to start the evening with a local brew before the walk.

Walk to St Benno's. This neo-Romanesque church was completed in 1895 as part of a trio for the Maxvorstadt district. It was bombed in wartime but rebuilt to its original design. Outside, look for St Benno teetering on a column and the statue of a fish with a key in its mouth, recalling his time as Bishop of Meissen.

Watch the golden light hit the church facade. The sun sets toward the WSW, casting a warm glow on the neo-Romanesque architecture. This is the perfect moment to appreciate the details of the rebuilt structure and the statues outside.
Local tip
