Arrive at the Gwydir Wetlands State Conservation Area carpark. The area is best accessed via the Gwydir Highway/B76, turning right onto Watercourse Road. Note that four-wheel drive vehicles are preferred, and the picnic area may be inaccessible after wet weather.

Find a spot near the picnic tables to watch the sun set toward the west. The golden light starts around 17:12, casting a warm glow over the wetlands and offering a chance to spot rare birdlife.
