Timeline
15:22
Grab a cheap beer at Bar des Pins. It is a blue-collar spot popular with university students, open late and perfect for a pre-sunset drink.
15:37
Walk 9 minutes south into Parc du Mont-Royal. Stroll through the immense urban park to reach the summit.
16:07
Arrive at the Croix du Mont-Royal. The white illuminated cross stands tall against the sky. Watch the sun set toward the WSW as the golden light fades.
17:07
Head 14 minutes SSW to Mount Royal Park. Find a spot with the best view on the city of Montreal to watch the transition from dusk to evening.
Local tip
The walk from the bar to the park is short, but the ascent to the cross is steep. Wear comfortable shoes. The cross is illuminated after dark, so you will still have a landmark to find your way back.
