Timeline
17:50
Start with a hot Arabic coffee or fresh juice at Jahazi Coffee House. The café opens early, so you have plenty of time to settle in before the evening rush.
18:25
Walk to Fort St Joseph. This older Arab fortress sits near the golf course and offers a quiet, elevated viewpoint. It is not as grand as Fort Jesus, but it provides a perfect, unobstructed view toward the west.
18:40
Watch the sunset. The sun sets toward the WSW around 18:40, casting a warm golden light over the ruins and the sea.
19:10
End your evening at Mama Ngina Park. Take a short walk to breathe in the fresh ocean air and watch the ferries crossing to Likoni as the sky darkens.
Local tip
Jahazi Coffee House is open daily from 08:00 to 19:30, so it will be open for your pre-sunset drink. Fort St Joseph has no set opening hours, but it is accessible during daylight and early evening.
Check before you go
- Jahazi Coffee House closes at 19:30, but you will have left well before then.
