Head up the Avas hill to the 72-metre TV tower. Built in 1966 on the site of an older wooden lookout, it offers a panoramic view of Miskolc. Find a spot near the edge as the sky begins to shift color.
16:10
Watch the sun sink toward the WSW. At 16:10 on 15 January, the city is bathed in the final moments of daylight. The granite and stone of the surrounding landscape take on a deep, warm tone before the blue hour sets in.
16:40
Walk back down the hill to finish your evening. This is a good time to settle in for a proper meal or another drink as the lights of the city below begin to twinkle. The atmosphere is relaxed and the food is excellent.
Local tip
The walk from the restaurant to the tower is short, but the hill is steep. Wear comfortable shoes. The tower is open late, but check the specific opening hours for the elevator or access points if you are arriving after dark.
