Timeline
16:20
Start with a pre-sunset drink at Il Tavolino. This pizza place is open late, so you can grab a beer or a coffee and settle in before the crowd arrives for the view.
16:50
Walk nine minutes from the landmark area to Palazzo Lombardia. This is your viewing spot. The government building offers a clear line of sight toward the WSW, where the sun is setting behind Torre Unicredit.
17:35
Head to the base of Torre Unicredit itself. Now that the sun has set, the building’s silhouette is stark against the twilight. It is the tallest structure in Italy, and seeing it up close after the distant view from Palazzo Lombardia gives you a sense of its scale.
Local tip
The walk from Il Tavolino to the viewing area is short, but the final approach to the tower is best done on foot to appreciate the architecture. Check the route for exact directions if you are unfamiliar with the area.
