Timeline

  1. 16:20

    Mercato Agricolo della Cuccagna

Pick up snacks at the weekly farmers market. The stalls are open from 15:30 to 19:30, so you have plenty of time before the sun sets. This is a good spot to grab something light and local to carry with you.

  2. 16:40

Acqua E Sale Milano (Porta Romana)

Walk 10 minutes south to Acqua E Sale Milano. Order a drink and find a seat near the window or on the terrace. The view looks back toward the gate area, giving you a chance to settle in as the light begins to soften.

  3. 17:00

    Porta Romana

Move to the Porta Romana itself. Stand by the gate facing west. The sun sets toward the WSW, offering a clear, unobstructed view of the sky turning gold and red. This is the key moment of the experience.

  4. 17:35

    Rom'antica Milano Porta Romana

End the evening at Rom'antica Milano Porta Romana. It is only a 12-minute walk northwest from the gate. Stay for a warm drink or digestif as the city lights begin to come on.

Local tip

The farmers market is only open on Tuesdays. If you are visiting on another day, swap the first step for a quick stop at Radicetonda, which is open daily until 19:00.
