Timeline

  1. 16:38

    Kings Domain

Walk through Kings Domain, the parkland that surrounds Government House and offers a clear view of the Shrine from the north. It is an 8-minute walk from the Shrine, so start here to orient yourself and enjoy the open space before the light changes.

  2. 17:23

    Southgate Mall

Stop at Southgate Mall for a late afternoon snack or drink. As a 24/7 food court and retail precinct, it is open now and just a short walk from the park. Grab something to keep you going as the sun begins to set.

  3. 17:53

    Shrine of Remembrance

Stand before the Shrine of Remembrance to watch the sunset. On 15 April, the sun sets toward the WNW around 17:53, casting long shadows and warm light across the classical architecture. The memorial is open daily until 5 PM, so you are inside the visiting hours for this final moment.

  4. 18:38

    Mister Margherita

End the evening with a slice of pizza at Mister Margherita. It is open from 4:30 PM on weekdays and weekends, making it the perfect spot for a post-sunset dinner just a short walk from the city center.
