Timeline
16:34
Grab a coffee and a slice of cake at Brunetti. The Italian hot chocolate is worth the queue, and the ticket system moves quickly even when busy. You will be just inside the door when the sun starts to dip.
16:54
Walk 13 minutes from Brunetti to the Grainger Museum. The building sits on the western edge of the university grounds. Arrive early to secure a free spot or book a tour if you want the full story of Percy Grainger. The afternoon light filtering through the windows is gentle and perfect for reading the exhibits.
17:19
Step out of the museum and walk 16 minutes northwest into Royal Park. This expansive green space offers an unobstructed view of the western horizon. Find a bench or a patch of grass facing WNW. At 17:19, the sun sinks below the tree line, painting the sky in soft hues before the city lights begin to twinkle.
Local tip
Royal Park is vast. Head towards the area near the zoo or the northern lawns for the best western views away from the main paths.
