Timeline
10:00
Arrive at Ardwick Green. It is a quiet public space with an ornamental pond and bandstand, originally a private park for local residents. It is a good place to clear your head before the city bustle begins.
10:45
Walk to the Bulls Head, a traditional pub with a Victorian exterior located diagonally opposite the rear entrance of Piccadilly station. Order lunchtime food if it is a weekday. Note that it may close early if it is empty, so arriving by 11:30 AM is wise.
11:30
Walk to Sackville Gardens, a small park in the heart of The Village. Pause here to see the bronze memorial to Alan Turing, the father of modern computer science. The description notes the poignancy of his story, making this a reflective stop.
12:00
Finish your walk at the Piccadilly Tap, a real ale outlet close to the main entrance of Piccadilly station. If you need more seating, head upstairs. It is open until 11 PM on weekdays and Sundays, or midnight on Thursdays to Saturdays.
Local tip
The Bulls Head can close early if it is quiet. If you arrive after lunchtime on a weekday, check if they are still serving food or move straight to the Piccadilly Tap which has more consistent hours.
