Timeline

  1. 08:00

    Al Fateh Grand Mosque

Arrive at Al Fateh Grand Mosque as it opens. The morning light is soft and the crowds are thin. Take a guided tour in English to see the world’s largest fibreglass dome and the National Library inside.

  2. 08:45

    Café Lilou's

Walk 11 minutes to Café Lilou's. It is open from 08:00, so you can sit down for a French café fare and a large salad while the morning is still cool. The Paris-style interiors offer a quiet contrast to the mosque’s scale.

  3. 09:15

    Juffair Park

Walk 9 minutes south to Juffair Park. This is a short, flat walk to one of the closest green spaces. Sit on a bench and watch the city wake up fully. It is a calm place to rest your feet after the tour and the meal.
