Timeline

  1. 06:21

    Sea-Turtle Sanctuary

Arrive at the Padang Kemunting beach information center. The center opens at 10:00, so you will be outside viewing the grounds and the hawksbill turtles in the aquarium area as the light builds. This is the quietest time to observe the turtles before the midday crowds arrive.

  2. 07:21

    Sea-Turtle Sanctuary

Wait for the center to open at 10:00. Enter the information center to read the boards and see the dozen hawksbill turtles up close. This is a free admission spot, perfect for a calm morning start.

  3. 08:06

Check the route to a nearby café or bakery in Melaka for breakfast. The sanctuary is 28 km from Melaka Sentral, so plan your transport back to town to enjoy a proper meal after your early start.

Local tip

The information center is closed on Mondays and public holidays. Plan your visit for a weekday between March and September for the best chance to see hatching activity, though the turtles are present year-round.
