Timeline
09:30
Arrive at the Museo de San Isidro as it opens. Spend about an hour exploring the exhibits dedicated to Saint Isidore and the region’s paleontology and archaeology. The museum is free and offers explanations in both Spanish and English, making it a perfect, uncrowded start to the day.
10:30
Walk 12 minutes to La Mallorquina. This famous pastry shop is the ideal spot for a mid-morning break. Head to the peaceful upstairs room to linger with a café con leche and a napolitana de chocolate (chocolate croissant). It is a calm place to recover from the walk and enjoy the pastries without the rush of the street below.
11:00
Return to the Museo de San Isidro area to explore the immediate surroundings. Since the museum is the anchor, you are well-positioned to see the local neighborhood vibe. If you have energy left, the Puerta del Sol is a 13-minute walk away (SW direction from the museum), offering a glimpse into the heart of Madrid’s transit and social life, but staying close allows for a more relaxed pace.
