    St Irénée church

Visit St Irénée church. The site is quiet and historic, with early Christian remains visible inside. It is a calm place to prepare for the view. The church is open 08:30-18:00 daily.

    Esplanade de Fourvière

Head to the Esplanade de Fourvière. This is the panoramic viewpoint next to the basilica. At sunset, the sun sets toward the WSW, casting long shadows over the city. If the weather is clear, you might see Mont Blanc in the distance.

    Café Le Simone

End the evening at Café Le Simone. This versatile space doubles as an art gallery, offering a relaxed atmosphere to digest your day. It is open Mo-Fr 09:30-19:30, so you will have just enough time for a final coffee or drink before closing.

Local tip

The walk from the bakery to the church is short, but the climb from the church to the Esplanade takes a bit of effort. Take it slow. The golden light starts around 16:34, so arriving at the Esplanade by 17:22 ensures you catch the full sunset.
