Timeline

  1. 10:00

Palais Saint-Pierre / Musée des Beaux Arts

Enter the Musée des Beaux-Arts de Lyon at Palais Saint-Pierre. The museum opens at 10:00 on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, making this the perfect time to explore the galleries in relative quiet before the day's visitors arrive.

  2. 10:45

    Rue de la République

Walk seven minutes down to Rue de la République. This pedestrian street is the main downtown shopping spot in Lyon. Take a moment to browse the window displays and soak in the atmosphere of the city's commercial heart.

  3. 11:00

    Nardone

Stop at Nardone for ice cream. The terrace is pleasant and the flavors are original. Be prepared to queue on sunny weekends as it gets completely overcrowded, but the wait is worth it for a real ice cream fan.

Local tip

The museum's ticket office closes at 17:30, but arriving at opening time ensures you get the best light in the galleries and the least crowded experience.
