Timeline

  1. 15:52

    Golf Park Coffee

Start at Golf Park Coffee. Order a hot beverage and a pastry to go. The café opens at 07:00 on weekdays, so it is ready for you.

  2. 16:32

    Riverside Park Historic Train Exhibit

Walk four minutes NNW from the anchor to the Riverside Park Historic Train Exhibit. Find a spot with a clear view of the 2-8-4 Berkshire C&O Kanawha #2760. The sun sets toward the WSW, framing the train perfectly in the late afternoon light.

  3. 17:52

    Magnolia Foods

Walk eleven minutes to Magnolia Foods. It is a reliable spot for a late dinner or a quiet drink. Check the route if you need directions. Note that it closes at 16:00 on Saturday and Sunday, so verify the day before you go. On weekdays it stays open until 18:00.

Local tip

The train exhibit is the only viewing spot with a specific alignment for sunset. The other parks are too far or face the wrong direction. Bring a jacket as it gets chilly near the water after the sun goes down.
