Donate blood at the Lao Friends Hospital for Children
Donate blood at Lao Friends Hospital for Children. This is the only free children's hospital in Laos and is chronically short of donors. The conditions are clean and all equipment is sterilized. If you are eligible, this is a direct way to help treat children with thalassaemia.
10:45
Walk seven minutes to Deaf&Mute Café for a snack or lunch. The café trains deaf and disadvantaged young apprentices in catering. The food is cooked with local, organic products from their farm. It is a quiet, supportive spot to refuel.
11:42
Take a 57-minute walk up Phou Si Hill. The trails from both sides offer a great view of the whole area from the summit. It is a significant climb, so take your time and enjoy the fresh air.
12:39
Walk back down to Deaf&Mute Café to end your outing. You can sit in the garden or inside and enjoy a final drink or coffee while reflecting on the morning.
Local tip
The hospital accepts donations between 10:00 and 16:00. Arriving right at opening ensures you can complete the process without waiting. The walk up Phou Si Hill is steep; wear comfortable shoes.
