Watch the sunrise. In January the sun sets toward the WSW, while in April and July it sets toward the WNW, and in October toward the W. The reservoir provides a wide, unobstructed view of the eastern sky as the sun rises.

Leave the reservoir. There are no food or drink shops listed in the immediate vicinity for breakfast or coffee after the sunrise. Check the route for nearby options in Livermore once you are ready to eat.
Local tip
The reservoir is expansive. Arriving early helps you secure a good vantage point without crowding.
