Walk up to Miradouro da Senhora do Monte. This is the highest viewpoint in Lisbon, offering a wide panorama to the south over the city and river. The small Capela de Nossa Senhora do Monte sits at the top, founded in 1147 and remodelled in the 20th century. Arrive early to beat the heat and the crowds before the golden light begins.
17:22
Head down to Casa de Pasto Ideal for a late morning snack or light lunch. It is a regional restaurant just a short walk from the viewpoint. The hours are 12:00-15:30 and 18:30-22:30, so you have plenty of time to eat before the afternoon rush.
19:22
Stroll over to the Lisbon Botanical Gardens. Created centuries ago by a King of Portugal during the Age of Discoveries, this garden was designed to house one of every type of plant in the world. It is a peaceful, shaded escape from the city streets, located about a 33-minute walk from the monastery but easily accessible on the slope.
20:22
Return to Miradouro da Senhora do Monte as the golden light hits. The sun sets toward the WNW, casting a warm glow over the rooftops. This is the perfect moment to sit and watch the city transform as the day winds down.
