Timeline
10:00
Arrive at Kerka Watermill as it opens. The exhibition on the history of the watermill is best explored in the quiet morning light before midday visitors arrive. The building itself, constructed in the 1800s, is still used as a guesthouse, adding to the atmosphere.
10:45
Walk five minutes to Sziget söröző for a drink. It is a local pub just steps from the mill. Order a beer and enjoy the break in the shade. The pub is open from 10:00 on weekdays and Sundays, so you will be there exactly when it starts serving.
11:30
Head to Szécsisziget kilátó, a viewpoint just sixteen minutes walk from the mill. Look west toward the watermill from this spot. It offers a clear view of the structure you just visited, framing the historic building against the landscape.
Local tip
The watermill closes at 17:00 on weekdays and Saturdays, and at 14:00 on Sundays. If you plan to stay longer, aim for a weekday morning to avoid the earlier Sunday closure. Sziget söröző closes at 20:00 on weekdays and Sundays, and 21:00 on Fridays and Saturdays.
