Timeline
18:36
Grab a drink at Auerbachs Keller, one of Germany's oldest pubs. The medieval atmosphere sets the tone for the evening before the crowds arrive.
19:21
Walk to the Museum in the "Runden Ecke". The building itself is a heavy reminder of the Stasi era. Browse the exhibits documenting their methods of control. Note that displays are primarily in German.
20:06
Head to the Panorama Tower. Take the elevator up to the observation platform at the top. At sunset, the sun dips toward the WNW, casting long shadows over Leipzig.
20:51
End the night with Saxon food at Zills Tunnel. The rustic cellar or tunnel courtyard offers a warm, hearty finish after the cold evening air.
Local tip
The museum has an admission fee of €5 which includes an audioguide with English options. The tower restaurant is also an option if you prefer dinner over a post-sunset meal, but Zills is closer for a quick stop.
