Timeline

  1. 15:45

    videoSightseeing Leipzig

Book a video sightseeing tour for a small group. You decide where to meet the guide, but choosing a spot near the Panorama Tower makes the logistics easier. The 2-hour tour covers historic film footage and live commentary, giving you context for the city before you head up for the view.

  2. 16:15

    Panorama Tower

Walk up to the Panorama Tower observation platform. At this time, you are positioned to watch the sun set toward the SW. The tower is Leipzig’s highest building, offering a clear, unobstructed view over the town as the golden light fades.

  3. 17:15

    Zills Tunnel

Head down and walk to Zills Tunnel for dinner. This German restaurant serves Saxon food with large portions. You can choose between the outdoor terrace, the rustic cellar, or the tunnel courtyard. The atmosphere is hearty and perfect for an early evening meal after the cold air at the top.

  4. 18:15

    Moritzbastei & Cafe Barbakane

Finish the night at Moritzbastei & Cafe Barbakane. This is a very old and big student club bar located in underground cellars. It is a local mainstay where you can enjoy a drink in a historic setting that was once part of the city wall. The cellars provide a cozy end to the evening.

Local tip

The Panorama Tower walk from the anchor area takes 47 minutes, but if you meet your video guide nearby, you can minimize transit time. Zills Tunnel is only an 8-minute walk from the tower base, and Moritzbastei is just 1 minute away, making the post-sunset transition very smooth.

Check before you go

  • Zills Tunnel is open daily from 11:30.
  • Moritzbastei is open from 10:00 on weekdays and 12:00 on Saturdays.
  • The Panorama Tower is accessible for the viewing spot; check if the videoSightseeing tour requires specific meeting point arrangements.
