Enter Leipzig Zoo. With the sun setting toward the WSW, the light will be soft and flattering as you explore the grounds. Visit the Gondwanaland exhibit or watch the elephants bathing in their pool.

Walk to the Rosental. This large meadow offers a glimpse into the zoo without an entrance fee. It is the perfect spot to watch the sun dip below the horizon from a distance.

End the evening at the Gosenschenke Ohne Bedenken. Enjoy the city's prettiest beer garden and try their specialty Gose, a sour beer made with coriander and salt. Note that on Sundays, it closes at 22:00.
Local tip
The Gose is an acquired taste. If you prefer something sweeter, the beer garden also serves standard lagers. Check the Sunday closing time if you are visiting on a weekend.
Check before you go
- Leipzig Zoo hours are 09:00-18:00 in October. Ensure you enter before closing if you plan to stay inside the zoo past 18:00, or just enjoy the exterior views in the Rosental.
- Gosenschenke Ohne Bedenken is closed Monday and Tuesday. On Sunday, it closes at 22:00, so plan your evening accordingly.
