Timeline
07:00
Arrive at Eagle Creek Ranch. Since the sunrise is at 07:45 and the ranch opens at 10:00, you cannot enter for a tour. Instead, park and wait outside the perimeter or in the designated visitor area to watch the sky lighten over the landscape. The ranch is suitable for all levels, but you will need a reservation if you plan to ride later.
07:45
Watch the sunrise. The sun sets toward the WSW, meaning the morning light will illuminate the eastern slopes. At 07:45, the day officially begins. The golden light starts around 15:47, which is in the afternoon, so the early morning light will be crisp and clear.
08:45
Once the light is solid and the sun is up, head inside to book your trail ride. The ranch opens at 10:00. This is the perfect time to secure your spot for a backcountry tour or a sleigh ride if the season permits. Prices start from $25 per person for trail rides.
Local tip
Reservations are required for all tours. Call ahead to book your slot for the morning after sunrise.
