Timeline
15:57
Grab a hot fondue at Chalet Suisse to warm up before the climb. The restaurant is open late, so you can take your time with the meal.
16:42
Walk up to the Sauvabelin tower. Arrive with half an hour to spare to find a good spot on the viewing platform as the sky turns orange.
17:12
Watch the sun dip below the horizon toward the WSW. The 35-meter wooden tower offers a clear, panoramic view of the lake and the city lights beginning to twinkle.
17:57
Head down to Restaurant la Forêt for dinner. It is the closest dining option to the tower, just a five-minute walk away, and stays open late into the night.
18:57
Finish the evening with a drink or dessert at Lausanne-Sport. This international restaurant is a short sixteen-minute walk from the tower area and remains open until 23:30 on weekdays.
Local tip
The tower is open until 17:00 in winter. If you arrive after sunset, you may not be able to enter the tower itself, but the surrounding forest paths are still accessible. Check the route if you need to navigate the slopes after dark.
