Drive W Charleston Blvd. west out of the city to the entrance. Arrive early to secure your parking spot before the main crowds. Reservations are required from October through May.

Park and step out to watch the sun break over the horizon. The light hits the red rock faces directly, turning the stone warm and bright. Take in the stillness of the desert morning.

Stay for the golden light phase. The shadows recede, revealing the texture of the canyon. Walk a short trail if you have the energy, or simply sit and enjoy the view.
Local tip
Getting there without a car is hard, though organized bus tours do exist. If you drive, ensure you have your reservation ready.
