Timeline

  1. 16:48

    Clark County Wetlands Park

Arrive at Clark County Wetlands Park. The Nature Center is open Tue-Sun, 9AM-2PM, so you will likely be there outside its hours, but the park grounds are accessible from dawn to dusk. Park and grab a coffee or snack from a vendor you brought along, as there are no food or drink shops listed in the immediate vicinity. Check the route if you need specific directions to the parking area.

  2. 17:18

    Clark County Wetlands Park

Walk the trails near the water treatment plants and the beginning of the Las Vegas Wash. The light is softening, and the area is quiet. This is the best time to find a quiet spot facing west, where the sun will eventually set.

  3. 18:03

    Clark County Wetlands Park

Watch the sunset. On this date, the sun sets toward the W at 18:03. The golden light begins around 17:29, so you have been in the right position for the last half hour. Enjoy the view as the sky changes color over the wetlands.

  4. 18:33

    Clark County Wetlands Park

Stay for a while longer as the light fades. The park closes at dusk, so you have time to linger. When you are ready to leave, check the route for your transport back, as there are no listed walking directions to other venues.

Local tip

The park is free, but bring your own snacks and drinks as there are no food or drink shops on site. The Nature Center has limited hours, so do not rely on it for refreshments if you are visiting in the late afternoon.
