Timeline
10:00
Sit by the window at Cafe El Greco. The red awning and ivy-clad building are easy to spot near the Ohara Art Museum. Order the blueberry pie and a coffee to start your afternoon slowly.
10:45
Walk eleven minutes south to Misokatsu Umenoki for a substantial lunch. Try the Nagoya specialty: a breaded, fried pork cutlet served with a thick miso-based sauce over shredded cabbage. It is a warm, savory contrast to the morning chill.
11:45
Head north to the Insect Museum on the 8th floor of Shigei Hospital. This is a niche stop for serious entomology fans, featuring pinned local insects displayed for close examination. It is about ten minutes north of the Bikan area.
Local tip
The Insect Museum is closed on Mondays. Cafe El Greco and Misokatsu Umenoki are open Tuesday through Sunday, so plan your visit accordingly. The museum hours are Tuesday to Saturday, 14:00-17:00, so aim to arrive there by mid-afternoon.
