Timeline
17:40
Arrive at Tanhua Temple before the light fades. The temple grounds are open from 07:00 to 17:00, so you can explore the courtyards and the epiphyllum tree in the backyard while the late afternoon sun is still bright. Use this time to find a quiet corner in the front park area.
18:20
Move to the Tanhua Temple Front Park. Position yourself where the temple structures frame the western sky. The park is just a short walk from the main temple area, making it easy to stay within the complex as the light begins to soften.
18:40
Watch the sunset. On 15 January, the sun sets toward the WSW at 18:40. The golden light starting around 18:07 will wash over the temple’s historic walls and the surrounding foliage, creating a warm, serene atmosphere before the sky turns deep blue.
19:10
End your visit by staying within the temple grounds as dusk settles. The free entry and quiet location make it an ideal place to reflect on the day. You can exit via the south gate, where bus routes 132 and z99 are available for your return to the city.
Local tip
Since there are no food or drink shops listed in the immediate vicinity of Tanhua Temple in the context, bring water and a small snack with you. The temple is about 4 km from the city centre, so planning your transport back via bus z99 from Jinma Temple metro station Exit B is recommended.
