Centre for Jewish Culture

Judaica Foundation

Exhibitions, concerts, seminars and workshops on Jewish culture. There is also a cafe with a roof terrace and a great antiquarian bookshop in the basement.

Cheder Cafe

Traditional Jewish place. They have Israeli coffee and a Judaica library.

Galicia Jewish Museum

Houses an exhibition of photographs with explanations in Polish and English. These are recent photographs of locations around Poland associated with the Holocaust. Some are places where massacres occurred; most show old synagogues and Jewish cemeteries with comments about how respectfully (or not) these places are now preserved. The museum also has a bookstore and coffee shop and arranges coach trips to Auschwitz.

Jama Michalika

Famous cafe with beautiful Secession-style interior. Come for a drink to admire it, but as for the food, oh dear no. They often do tourist-trappy "Folk Nights".

Leftist cafe, bar, bookstore and culture house owned and managed by a cooperative. They organize many events: discussions, film screenings, exhibitions and book promotions. Prices at the bar are pretty low. Books they sell are mostly in Polish. LGBT friendly.

Wedel Cafe

A cafe with a beautiful medieval courtyard, showcasing the assortment of the E. Wedel chocolate factory (since 1851, but now part of Lotte Holdings), including the traditional praline-wafer torte (torcik wedlowski) still decorated by hand. Wonderful chocolate drinks and cakes.
