Forestry Museum of Stajer-house
Start at the Forestry Museum of Stajer-house. It is located in the western part of the Kőszegi Protected Landscape Area. Írottkő Peak and Lookout Tower
Walk 54 minutes southwest from the museum area to Írottkő Peak and Lookout Tower. This is the highest peak of Transdanubia at 883 m. The tower was built in 1913 and offers a commanding view. Arrive early enough to secure a good spot on the observation deck.

Watch the sunset. The sun sets toward the WSW. The golden light begins around 15:40, providing a warm glow before the final dip at 16:30. Enjoy the view from the top of Transdanubia.

Descend and walk 24 minutes south-southwest to the Hills around Kőszeg. This area features the Hörmann-source and is part of the hiking network. It is a calm place to end your evening walk as the light fades.
Local tip
The walk from the Forestry Museum to the peak takes 54 minutes. Plan your start time carefully to ensure you reach the summit before the sun sets. The museum closes at 16:00, so if you plan to enter it, you must go in the morning or early afternoon.
