Timeline
15:30
Grab a pre-dinner drink with a view at Cafe Terrasse de Paris. This French restaurant is just a short walk from the anchor and offers a romantic atmosphere before the crowds arrive.
16:00
Walk down to Kobe Port Tower. Built in 1962, this 108-meter pipe structure is the unofficial symbol of the city. Spend the next hour exploring the five levels of observatories as the sky turns orange.
17:10
Watch the sun set toward the WSW from the observatory. The city lights begin to flicker on across the harbor.
18:10
Head back up the hill to Mouriya for dinner. As one of the most famous houses serving Kobe beef, you must make reservations. The slightly reduced lunch specials are worth checking out if you arrive early, but for this evening plan, expect a full dinner experience.
19:10
Finish the night with a drink at Sone. This excellent bar is one of the best jazz clubs in Kansai. You will have to pay a cover charge on a night with big names performing, so check the schedule.
Local tip
The walk from the Port Tower back to the Kitano Ijinkan area is steep. Allow extra time if you are not used to the hills. Mouriya requires reservations, so book in advance.
