Timeline
16:25
Grab a coffee or snack at ANGIE. It is a short walk from the tower area and opens at 11:00, giving you plenty of time to settle in before the evening rush.
16:50
Walk to Kobe Port Tower. It is in Meriken Park. Head to the observatory to find the best vantage point. The tower is open until 21:00, so it will be accessible.
17:10
Watch the sun set toward the WSW. The golden light starts about 37 minutes before this moment, so you have been watching the sky change for a while. This is the peak of the experience.
17:30
Walk SW to Kobe Harborland. This shopping district is built on the site of the former freight yard. It is a pleasant area to stroll as the lights come on in the harbor.
Local tip
The sun sets toward the WSW on 15 January. If you visit on other dates, the sun's path will shift slightly, but the view from the tower remains excellent.
