Timeline

  1. 07:03

    Princess of Wales Own Regiment

Stand in front of the Princess of Wales Own Regiment armoury. The low winter sun hits the limestone facade just as the sky brightens. It is quiet and cold. Check if the museum is open if you want to peek inside, but the exterior architecture is the main draw at this hour.

  2. 07:38

    Princess of Wales Own Regiment

Watch the sunrise. The sun sets toward the WSW, so the morning light is soft and directional. Take a moment to appreciate the historic building before the day gets busy.

  3. 08:00

    CRAVE Coffee House & Bakery

Walk four minutes to CRAVE Coffee House & Bakery. It is Kingston’s largest independent coffee house and scratch bakery. Order a hot drink and a pastry to go or sit for a while. The kitchen is open and the atmosphere is warm after the cold start.

Local tip

The armoury hours are tight. In winter (Sep-May) it is open Tue/Thu 7PM-10PM and Mon-Fri 10AM-4PM in late May-early Sep. Since you are arriving at 7:38 AM, the museum doors will be locked, so focus on the exterior stonework and the quiet street.

Check before you go

  • CRAVE Coffee House & Bakery opens at 08:00. If you arrive before 7:38 AM, you will have to wait outside or find a place that is open earlier, but the sunrise begins at 07:38.
